Dante in One Quote:
Gene Loomis: Y'know, it's hard to believe you're a grown-up.
Ruth Corday: No kidding.
Lawrence Woolsey: You think grown-ups have it all figured out? That's just a hustle, kid. Grown-ups are making it up as they go along just like you. You remember that, and you'll do fine.

Current Mood: cheerful

ok i now have practically every joe dante movie except for a couple tv things he did, "runaway daughters" and "picture windows", which i have never seen before.
i have on dvd "amazon women on the moon", "the burbs", "explorers", "gremlins", "gremlins 2", "hollywood boulevard", "the howling", "innerspace", "loony tunes: back in action", "matinee", "pirana" and "small soldiers". on vhs i have "the second civil war" and "twilight zone the movie". i also have " rock and roll highschool" on dvd which he and director allan arkush provided the story for. dante also did some uncredited directing on it. as far as his movies go my favorite is probably still "gremlins 2" although the thing he did for "twilight zone the movie" is probably the coolest directing he's done.
i would love for there to be a joe dante section in the director spotlight at my local video store. they have every other obvious director but i think joe dante is just as necessary as someone like tim burton or spielburg. i mean they even have an ed wood section!

the second civil war
i just watched the second civil war, it's a HBO original movie directed by dante about, well, a second civil war. it has all the usuals, picardo, miller, and mcarthy. it's not usual dante project though any fan could sense the humor thats in it. mainly a comedy but then gets to serious to laugh at. it is his most powerful film. i liked it alot but it will be hard to find.
